In this article I am going to talk about the California green buildings. Like many states in the US, California begun to build green buildings. There aren’t as many green buildings in California as in New York, which is the capital of the green movement in the United States of America, but the situation is improving. There are certain things which make a green building, well… green.




First of all the materials used for the construction of the green buildings are different because they are recyclable and renewable. Being recyclable means that the left-over materials or the waste resulted from the constructing process can be re-used for future operations.

It is also very important that the materials are renewable which means that they can replenish very fast. This is essential as the materials used nowadays for the construction of the buildings are in danger of being depleted. There is also another problem, which is the fact that the regular materials might be pretty polluting to the atmosphere. The processes through which these materials are being constructed are very damaging as they are using lots of energy, resources, and time. On the other hand the green materials use far less energy than the regular ones and the process through which they are constructed will require less resources and time.

This is essential because thanks to this, the materials are not as polluting. It is also essential for the materials used for the California green buildings to be local. This means that they would not require too much transportation which means that there will be less pollution. It is also essential for the green buildings to be as durable as possible. Usually the green materials will be very durable as they last for very long periods of time and do not require any repair. As you can tell this is very important because since the materials do not need repair lots of money will be saved. Since they do not require replacements means that that less energy will be used which once again means less pollution.

It is essential for the materials not to be toxic and not to contain various Volatile Organic Compounds which can be harmful both for the people and for the environment. Many materials contain these Volatile Organic Compounds, even the most usual ones. For example the cleaning products are very toxic and so are the materials made out of plastic or similar products.

The furniture can be made out of non toxic materials such as bamboo or cork. Bamboo or cork can be even used for the construction of homes or buildings as they are able to last in extreme temperatures. These are just some of the facts about the California green buildings.
