Energy Efficiency In Green Buildings Vs Non

More and more modern buildings are being built in the detriment of the regular ones because of the extra benefits they bring when it comes to protecting the nature. The methods of constructing the buildings have changed as well, the traditional methods being slowly replaced by the newer ones. These methods are popular both in the case of living homes and in the case of commercial buildings. Overall the green buildings are better than the regular ones from any point of view.

In order for a green building or a regular building to be considered energy efficient, the materials used for its construction are made out of recyclable or recycled products. Steel, wood and concrete are all recyclable materials but they might not be the best options in the case of the green buildings.

It is also essential for such a building to be economical and resourceful when it comes to the amount of energy it requires in order to run properly, heating, lighting, being included here. The construction of such a building is extremely essential because the construction of a green building should require much less energy than the one of a regular building.

The transportation of the construction materials should be short, it is advisable that local materials to be used instead of the ones from remote places. You might have not known this, but the construction of a building requires the most amount of energy, and the waste left behind is enormous. The green buildings should leave much less waste behind and the process of removing this waste should not be too time and energy consuming.

Once the construction is over, the energy efficiency in green buildings should be noticeable. During the winter the building should stay warm without requiring massive amounts of energy. The energy efficient doors, windows, and insulation are the proper way to make this happen. Cooling can also be a problem during the summer. There are certain materials which can be applied at the construction of the walls and of the ceilings which will keep the house much cooler than normally.

A great built green building should take advantage of the environment meaning that it should use for example the trees located in its near proximity for cooling. The windows should be laced in front of the trees so that during the summer the house will stay cool and during the winter, the warmth of the sun will be able to heat it.

An additional way of reducing the money and energy costs would be to install water heaters or fluorescent light bulbs instead of the regular ones. Usually the green products will last longer than the regular ones, which means that money will be saved. I hope that this article provided the proper information when it comes to energy efficiency in green buildings.
