As the environment situation is getting more and more critical, more and more changes need to be made in all the areas, domains, and industries. On such area is architecture and the changing process has already begun in this domain. The city planers and architects are being asked by the city officials to create more and more green buildings instead of the regular ones. A new rating aimed at these types of buildings has been created, which is the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED for short.




The domestic green building industry keeps on increasing its net sales every year, as a study made by the Green Building Council shows, which means that the number of jobs in the “green domain” is on a constant rise.

For those with the degrees at the proper colleges, several career paths in the green work industry are available. One of such green architecture jobs is the Park Planner, whose responsibility is to survey land which could then be used in order to build recreational parks on it. The park planers are also responsible for the strategies behind the placement of the construction and are also responsible for supervising its development. The job is pretty well paid, most of the park planers making at least $50.000 per year, but some of them can even make more than $100.000 per year.

The green architect job is much craved at this moment. Besides the salary, which is in most cases at least $80.000 per year, the green architect also has the satisfaction of designing a building or a construction which has a reduced negative impact on the environment. One could also become an urban planner, which is responsible for the development and the outlining of the city and town spaces. They are involved in the business planning of various projects, and work close with the government officials in order to make sure that the construction is in compliance with the industry standards. The average salary of an urban planer ranges between 40k and 50k per year.

Another green architecture job one could choose is the landscape architect whose main job is to create recreational areas such as parks and playing grounds. The landscape architect is also in close connection with various scientists with whom he cooperates in order to identify the best way of restoring the natural resources. The usual salary for a landscape ranges from 45k to 75k per year, but it can grow depending on experience.
