A green building is a building which uses and requires as less energy, water, and materials during its lifespan. The resources required for the creation of such a building are far less than the ones of a regular building, as well as the waste which results from the process of the demolition.

One of the green building benefits is the fact that it reduces the pollution of the environment because of the reduced number of resources required. It consumes less energy that a regular building and that helps as well. There will be 40% less energy used in a green building or home than in the case of a regular building.
The human health will be increased as well which means that they will be more productive thus on the long run resulting on a better financial situation. Certain toxic elements are not present in the construction of such a building, or they are replaced with non-toxic counterparts.
Most of these buildings use at least some source of alternate energy, whether solar, hydro, wind or biomass. These alternate sources of energy are far healthier than the regular ones and from an economical point of view they are way more cost effective. They might be costly to install but in time the cost will be absorbed as the bills for electricity in such a building are reduced. It is said that you will save more than 40% on the electric bill and more than 50% on the water bill.

The design of a green building is in harmony with the nature, which means that it will take advantage of it from a positive point of view. Natural daylight will enter these building easier than in the regular ones, which means that the living environment will be more comfortable.
The green buildings use eco-friendly green materials which are superior when it comes to protecting the environment. Windows can be made out of special substances which allow a better isolation. The walls could be made out of eco-friendly materials as well which will keep the house cool during the summer. The durability of a green building is superior to the one of a standard home which means that there will be less repair and maintenance required.
