Materials Needed To Build A Green Building

In this article I am going to give you some information about green building, especially about the materials needed to build a green building. Green building is only one of the branches which have resulted from the relatively new green movement. The green movement resulted when people realized the amount of damaged they have cause with their constant polluting. The green movement requires one to live the green life, thus to live in a manner in which he/she would pollute as less as possible.

When building a regular building, with the means we are usually use today, lots of pollution occurs. The pollution might not be intentional, because in most of the cases it isn’t, the fact is that we are used to build something this way and we keep on doing it. A building will be polluting even after the construction. It will pollute during the many tens or hundreds of years it exists, and then it will pollute some more when it is destroyed. A green building will not cause as many damages to the nature as a regular building does and there are several reasons for this.

First of all the materials needed to build a green building are not the same as the ones required to build a regular building. The materials used for a green building are recyclable and in most of the cases they are already recycled. The recycled materials have huge advantages over the regular ones. A recycled material will not cause as much pollution as a regular material because it is obtained through different means. A regular building material is obtained in most of the cases through processes which are not exactly eco-friendly. If the materials are natural the result is damaging to the environment as well because in most of the cases there is a shortage of that particular product.

There are some cases when the green building materials are not recycled or can’t be recycled. This is the case of such products such as cork, bamboo, straw, and many others. There is a difference between these products and the regular ones though. Bamboo and any other similar products will replenish way faster than the regular natural products.

For example think about a tree: it requires tens of years to reach maturity whereas a bamboo requires only certain months. These materials are great at conserving energy and in the same time they have a minimum rate of emissions. The green building materials are usually local products and they do not require lots of transportation. They will pollute far less during all the stages of a building: construction, life, and destruction. These are just some of the many benefits of using green building materials instead of the regular ones.
