Organic Green Products

People are slowly starting to realize the damaged they have caused the environment in the past tens of year. The constant exploitation of the natural resources has led to major crises, both economical and environmental. The truth is that the state of the Earth is getting worse and worse and we as humans need to do something about it.

Most would think that in order to be effective they need to make huge changes which would interfere with their lives and would make it miserable. This is not true; in fact the situation is completely different. Even the small steps, the baby steps, whatever you like to call them are crucial.

One of these changes could occur in your eating habits. Even if this sounds like a bad idea, because maybe you are accustomed to the fast food, or with the pre-made meals, you should know that by using organic green products you will improve your health and prolong your life. In order for a food to be considered organic it must be made according to certain standards.

This means that the organic meat, milk, eggs, and so on should come from animals which have never received growth hormones or antibiotics during their life. Also an organic food should not be made with the aid of certain fertilizers and pesticides which might contain synthetic ingredients. For the majority of time the foods and the agriculture were all organic, that is until the 20th century when people started using more and more chemicals in order to make their products bigger, or even to genetically modify them.

Organic foods are better than non-organic ones because they are more nutritious and because they are safer, as no chemicals have been involved in their creation. The organic green products are made in special organic farms which have to respects certain environmental standards. The organic farms also have some advantages over the conventional ones: they do not release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere and they sustain better ecosystems for the insects and plants, and so on.

There are three types of labeling an organic food product: “made with organic ingredients”, “organic”, “100% organic”. The first category need to have at least 70% organic ingredients, the second one at least 95%, and the third one should be mad entirely out of organic ingredients.

Even if the non-organic foods contain pesticides in minimum quantities, studies have revealed that there is a difference when it comes to the number of pesticide in one’s body when comparing someone who ate organic food with someone who ate non-organic food. In the case of children this might be a problem, as it might interfere with their growth. The price of the organic food is larger than the one of the regular food, but the health benefits are also better.
