The renewable green energy will be the energy of the future for several different reasons. The renewable green energy is the energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, water, wind, rain, geothermal heat and so on. The benefit of using such sources of energy is the fact that they do not pollute, and of course, as the name suggests, that they are renewable. As I said, there are various sources of renewable energy, and in what follows I am going to present you some information about the most popular of them.




Wind energy is one of the most popular sources of renewable green energy in the world at the moment, as the wind power is growing by 30% annually. The proper way to use the wind power is by installing wind turbines which range between 600 kW to 5 MW of rated power

The size of the turbines determines the amount of electricity produced. Houses, ranches, and farms usually use smaller wind turbines as a mean of obtaining energy, the larger combines being usually used for commercial use. The problem with the wind turbines is that they can be pretty noisy, and they are not exactly cheap. It is said that 1% of the energy used in the US is produced by wind turbines.

The hydropower or hydroelectric energy is one of the most used sources of energy nowadays. The benefit of using water as a source of energy is the fact that water is much denser than the air, which means that even the slow flowing water streams could be used in order to produce energy. Hydropower is capable of producing around 77,000 megawatts of energy and it is non pollutant. The negative point of view of using hydroelectric energy is the fact that the wildlife can be influenced by it, as the water quality in the surrounding areas is altered.

The geothermal energy is one of the most reliable and cost-effective sources of energy at the moment. It is estimated that the geothermal energy is capable of producing up to 2.800 megawatts of energy each year and it provides about 2% of the total energy used by the United States of America. The geothermal energy uses the heat of the earth, by extracting the hot water found bellow the Earth’s crust. The steam resulted from the operation is then used to power a turbine, which then turns it all into electric power.

Last but not least we have the solar energy which can be obtain in two ways. First, the photovoltaic cells can be used which are easy to install and are able of absorbing sunlight and turning it into electricity. The next method of using the sun is by installing solar thermal systems which use the sunlight in order to heat water or air. Both methods are non-pollutant.
