Did you know that there is a difference between the bio and biodegradable detergents? A bio detergent is also biodegradable but a biodegradable detergent is not necessarily 100% bio. This justifies the high price and the differences between the two categories of products. Here’s why.

The biodegradability is the ability of detergents from the waste water to decompose under the action of oxygen and microorganisms. Most detergents on the market are made of chemical compounds that are resistant to the action of biological factors. Thus, when these detergents come into contact with water, for the environment there are very difficult to eliminate and can create serious problems for the aquatic environment. Discharged onto the soil, the residues from the manufacture of conventional detergents are driven by rains, arriving at great depths, even beyond the groundwater.

Biodegradable detergent and bio detergent

To increase the performance of the detergents, to their composition there are added nitrates and phosphates, which have the effect of reducing water hardness. Arrived in the aquatic environment, they stimulate the growth of algae, which lowers the oxygen content in water, making life impossible for the aquatic fauna. Moreover, researchers have warned repeatedly that agricultural soils are increasingly infected, besides pesticides, with alkylbenzenes sulfate, a substance found in anionic detergents, the best sold detergents worldwide. These problems could be eliminated totally if it was only widely used biodegradable detergents. The biodegradable detergents contain active ingredients that will not harm the surfaces; it dissolves easily and is not toxic for the environment.

The bio detergent (biological) contains enzymes for cleaning and natural active ingredients extracted from plants. These products are environmentally friendly and do not contain any toxic or synthetic substances. The ingredients are dissolving easily in water and there won’t remain traces of residue, so that all are organic and biodegradable detergents. Among the main ingredients used in organic detergents include citrus, Aloe Vera, coconut, natural extracts from vegetables, soy, essential oils of lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus.

The bio detergents meet the increasing demands on the environment and dermatological domains and convince by an exceptional capacity of washing and cleaning.

Why should you take the time to make your own cleaning products? Well, first of all, a lot of studies show that conventional cleaning products are toxic and not good for your health, your child’s health and for the health of the planet.

Health problems mentioned above are a reason enough to make green cleaning products, but if you need more reasons: homemade cleaning products smell good, works equally well, packages are no longer used and you will save money. Finally, it is a very simple organic step that you can do at home and the rewards are huge- a better quality of the indoor air and a healthy and happy family.

Simple recipes for cleaning

Washing the windows ecologically- Many environmentalists are washing the windows with vinegar and water. Mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar with 2 cups of water and spray the mixture directly on the windows. The vinegar works great on glass; however, vinegar has a very pungent odor, so you can turn to an alternative. You can use fresh lemon juice or soda to get clean windows. Spray on the glass soda and scrub with a newspaper. If you use lemon juice, use a lint-free cloth to clean the glass surface.

Multifunctional disinfectant- Mix 2 cups of water, a few drops of natural soap and 15 drops of essences of tea tree oils and lavender. You can spray this mixture on all surfaces: tables and counter tops, toilets, sinks, walls and many others. Do not use this product for cleaning the glass, as it will stripe.

Cleaning the toilet- You can sprinkle the toilet bowl with vinegar, lemon juice or spray the disinfectant above. Sprinkle some baking soda. Let it stand for 10 minutes, then clean with the toilet brush. This mixture will also clean the sink perfectly.

The fight against mold- Mold is extremely harmful to human lungs. The problem is that once the mold is installed in the house it will be almost impossible, if not totally impossible to get rid of him. The prevention is the key. In order to fight against mildew, mix two cups of water and three drops of pure organic tea tree oil. Once a week, spray the walls with this solution (even behind furniture) and dry with a cloth. The natural qualities of the tea tree oil are antiseptic and are fighting against mold and dampness. The mixture is also fighting against stains.

Cleaning your house can always be a tough job to do, even for those of us who do have enough spare time to do it as often as we should! But let’s face it- daily stress, job problems, kids, pets – all these make our lifes enough busy so whenever we come home from work all we want to do is sit quiet and enjoy some moments of silence and relaxation, not start panicking about how dirty is the whole house and how many hours will it take us to clean it up! Sure, we can appeal to specialized companies that do that for us but how many of us really afford paying a few hundreds of bucks weekly just for cleaning the house?

And there’s always the chemicals too; cleaning products tend to be excessively toxic and polluting so most of us can be prone to allergies due to their usage, not to mention the most sensitive ones like dogs, cats or our children. So that there’s always tricky to start cleaning out our house, what is there left to do? One solution would be, just like before, to pay more attention on the products we buy, use protection equipment like gloves or masks.

The best and viable solution would be to turn green. The market of green products is already having enormous sales across the globe as more and more people want to protect themselves as well as the environment and use less toxic products and substances, natural and organic goods and so on. Of course, the cleaning market is also a zone of interest for most of us, and in fact, who wouldn’t want to buy natural products to keep our houses clean? But what about making your own green cleaning products?

There are many effective natural products that can be used to clean grease, dirt or freshen the air, and most of them are very common in the culinary arts, such as the baking soda or the lemon juice. Lemon juice can be used to eliminate odors from the bathroom, while the baking soda will help you clean all surfaces you want, from bathroom to kitchen, leaving crystal clear areas.

Not sure you can do this by yourself? Still need some extra help from finite products? You can purchase thousands of green and natural goodies that will help you in the cleaning process from sites such as www.greenhome.com, www.realgoods.com or www.gaiam.com. All you have to do now is start making your cleaning process fun and easy, or, why not, turn it into a fun experience kids can participate to too!

Using green products can save you large amounts of money, without mentioning the benefits you get: a greener life style, no allergies or skin problems inquired, you give a helpful hand to the environment and your children and pets are also very safe as these type of products don’t contain chemicals or any other bad ingredients.

Not to mention you can basically find them in our days everywhere, as there are hundreads of natural and organic products-based shops across the United States and not only.

Still, how good are green cleaning products in the end? Sure, technologies used aren’t that developed yet to assure the same quality as chemical-based products available on the market, but the good things is that they are continuously developing. The fact is that, in the end, everyone loves a clean home, but few of us actually like the chore of cleaning. Moreover, we often rely on combos of hazardous and chemical substances to make our bathroom and floors shine.

And how can one trust in ordinary cleaning products, when often laundry detergents contain bleach and other corrosives, and dish washing contain phosphates which are harmful for our health as well as for the environment and the water. Taking these facts into consideration, no wonder that most of us already appealed to greener products, which claim that are non toxic and will leave your bathroom surfaces and not only as shiny and clean as their opponents.

So, on the one hand we have many modern cleaners which irritate our skin, eyes and lungs, yet they do their jobs effectively and don’t cost fortunes either. Still, try can also leave toxic residues which pollute water and ground. And, on the other hand, there are several companies that now produce the green alternative of cleaners that avoid toxic or non biodegradable ingredients, to best suit the needs of allergy prone people and not only.

Not to mention you can too make these products at home so you can be sure of their ingredients and concentrations. For example, take the baking soda. Among its culinary uses and the fact it whitens your teeth, you can use it to clean dust and stain surfaces from all bathroom without scratching or damaging them. 100% natural and non toxic, yet don’t expect extraordinary results.

Still, if you are looking for non-damaging solutions, soap, water, baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, borax and a scrubbing sponge can take care of most superficial cleaning needs found in the house. Some other green solutions to well-known cleaning products include the usage of a mixture of half white vinegar and half water for effective glass cleaning which will look shiny and new. For good smelling and clean carpets you can also use baking soda and cornstarch, while to clean up mold, the most effective natural mixture is the one between lemon juice/white vinegar and sold.

All in all, green cleaning products may be somehow effective in the house, yet they aren’t too well performing when it comes to cleaning more durable stains and dust, so, unless you want to clean your house almost daily, you will still need to appeal to chemical products.

Living green is a very important concept which should become familiar among all the persons living in this world nowadays. This is because as citizens of this world we are all responsible for the quality of life in it and this quality is also determined by the environment surrounding us which needs to be protected so as for a good quality life on earth to be preserved. We all influence the environment and it influences all of us as without it being kept clean we shall never be able to actually live a healthy life.

If we want for the environment to offer us the opportunity of living healthier we need to take care of it as we are the ones which cause environmental damages which bring all sorts of problems in this world, problems which affect all of us. A clean environment means a healthy life for us and as we all want to be healthy we should all become aware of the important ways in which to protect the environment and in this way to offer ourselves the opportunity of living a better life.

There are many aspects which are important to be considered by persons interested in living green. They are all connected to each other somehow as they all have the same objective: protecting the world in which we live and in this way assuring ourselves a better life quality in this world. Cleaning processes are also important to be taken in account from this point of view as many of the products being used nowadays in this respect contain lots of chemicals which are harmful for us to use.

This is why everyone should also be interested in ways in which to clean their houses properly by using green natural cleaning products. It is essential for persons interested in green living to be concerned with the idea of using proper products for all sorts of actions in which they might get involved in as in this way they protect themselves from all of the negative effects presented by them.

In this respect, it is also important for users to become aware of the fact that they have the opportunity of using green natural cleaning products when they want to clean their houses and offices as they ca be easily found nowadays and they are not as expensive as some might consider them to be. Everyone can try using such products as in the end some of us might discover that they are actually very useful to be used. When discussing about green natural cleaning products used by many persons when they need to clean their homes or certain parts of their homes it is also important to be mentioned the fact that they represent non toxic products which are made from renewable type of sources in not as known traditional cleaning products used by all of us which are said to be made of resources such as petroleum.

This is one of the reasons for which green products are much better for us to use as they do not have a negative impact on our health which cannot be said about other products which are not green and which can actually harm us without even realizing it sometimes. Nowadays, it is very important for all of us to consider the idea of living green as it is the only possibility for us to live healthier and in this way to save life on earth.
