Bamboo is in its essence a cane, but not an usual one. It is one of the fastest growing plants having also a high renewability and resistance to hostile environments that exist. The bamboo has many uses, due to its unique qualities: fast growing, reaching maturity in 4-5 years, it’s easy, flexible and yet very durable, with an incredible strength, comparable to that of steel. In construction, the bamboo competes with other advanced materials created by the modern technology. The fact that the structure of the resistance of skyscrapers in Tokyo and Hong Kong is partially made of bamboo stalks is an edifying example. In China in particular, the bamboo is one of the most popular raw materials, an important resource – and especially environmental – for the furniture industry. From the pillars, roof and walls, the blinds, flooring, furniture and decorative objects, almost everything can be made of bamboo, giving durability, warmth and an exotic air for such a construction.

The technology to achieve floor from this wonderful plant is relatively recent, the biggest progress being made in the last decade. This technology has managed to achieve something truly revolutionary in both the flooring and the environment as well. Basically, the bamboo grows 10 times faster than other species from which is made the parquet flooring.

Bamboo-an environmentally friendly indoor solution

For other species, 50-100 years are needed to grow and be usable for the manufacture of flooring, while the bamboo only need 3 to 5 years after which, once cut is very easy to regenerate from the roots and there is no need to be replanted. The Bamboo forest emits an average of up to 35% more oxygen than other species used for flooring and absorbs up to 12 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare of forest.

The Bamboo culture is also an ideal solution for the rehabilitation of depleted soils being truly a renewable material, sustainable and having a long life. For the followers of the minimalist style, who want a comfortable home and to also include natural materials, the bamboo flooring is the ideal choice.

Bamboo- an environmentally friendly indoor solution

In addition to elegance, sophistication and style, they offer durability, a noble and healthy coverage. The interior air gets thus intimate, warm and welcoming. In addition, bamboo flooring is waterproof, can be easily maintained using normal cleaning products and therefore it is a good option not only for the living room and bedroom but also for bathroom and kitchen.

Green living is a concept which should be taken in account by all of us because it includes all of us referring to the way in which we should decide to live our lives so that we might not cause any negative environmental effects through all sorts of actions which we might device to take or through all sorts of activities in which we might decide to get involved.

There are many aspects presented by this concept which we should all show interest in as they all refer to things that we should or should not do, to ways in which we should do them, to what we should use or not and all of these aspects have a common goal: achieving success in our attempt of living a better quality of life on Earth by protecting the environment and by trying to live as healthier as possible.

Among the many aspects which we should become interested in finding out more about the ones related to green flooring materials might also be interesting to be included within our discussion as many interesting ideas related to it can be considered useful by all of us.

When discussing about green flooring materials it is first of all important to be mentioned the fact that in reality none of the flooring products available for us nowadays can be considered to present zero impact on the environment surrounding us, but what is even more important to be made aware to us is the fact that at least some of these green flooring materials can be considered as a much better choice of use than other materials which are not considered to be green in any way.

Even if we do not have the opportunity of choosing to use materials which do not negatively affect the environment in any way we should at least try and find those materials which might present the lower impact on the environment. By using green materials and by improving our lifestyle we might become able to live healthier and in this way to improve the quality of life in this world. We must all become aware of the necessity for us to choose what is best for us because this is the only way in which any improvements can be made possible in the world in which we live.

Some of these green flooring materials as well as certain products which might be considered a as a possible choice of use from this point of view are known to be the following ones: bamboo, cork, rubber, linoleum, stone and others. There are many important aspects which can be considered related to any of these green flooring materials and to the way in which they can become even more beneficial to us.

Bamboo for example is considered as a very good choice of green flooring material because it is considered to be very durable and harder than other materials such as red oak for example becoming in this way even better to be used. All of these green flooring materials can be carefully analyzed by every person interested in using at least some of them and in this way in living healthier, in protecting the environment and in improving the quality of life on Earth.
