Painting and redecorating the house is always a big thing to do and can cause a lot of stress and wasted time if you don't have enough money to pay for an interior decorator specialist who will take your money and the key of your house and turn it into a castle before you come home. Still, if you are looking to spend this amount of money and time and you want to do things on your own, you should take into consideration that there will be loads of frustrating moments as well as those moments when you'll want to quit everything, and then the small but beautiful ones when you'll see what huge difference it makes now some painted walls and some new furniture to the entire home.

And besides the really stressful job which is to decorate your living room, which is, after all, the center of your house, you should really pay attention to the other rooms as well, especially the hall way, the balcony, the kitchen or any adjacent rooms to your living. If you already chose the color of your living room and now you are considering the walls of your kitchen, things shouldn't be too complicated. For kitchens that open into a living room, mainly the pallet of colors can be as different or as neutral as you want; there aren't really too many rules to be followed, as it only has to be catchy to the eye and not too strident.

For example, if your kitchen opens into a light green living room, you can chose almost any color you want. If the walls of your living room are light green, you can opt for the same shade of green for your kitchen, or, on the contrary, opt for a contrasting one. Also, depending on the furniture color and of the kitchen's furniture, another suitable wall color could be white. As you all know, white can create the impression of a bigger and cleaner place so if your kitchen lacks space, white is the most proper color to opt for.

On the contrary, if your kitchen is spacious, you can opt for a large pallete of colors which includes shades of yellow-lime or lime-green, dust or baby pink, or even more dareful colors such as red or orange. Basically, everything you want is suitable, depending on the effect you want to achieve. Still, if you opt for one of the more dareful colors, you might want to keep the rest as simple as possible in order to not be exhausting for the eyes. Another very suitable color for the kitchen walls which will for sure add a touch of elegance and glamour is gold; gold is a very opulent color which goes extremly well with the green ambiance.
